The Guyana Police Force through its Public Relations Department released statements yesterday showing an increase in robberies with and without violence while there has been a decrease in everything else including murders, rapes and robberies under arms.
Fatal accidents also show a decrease compared to last year, and a number of illegal firearms were seized.
This statistics is in comparison to the same time last year.
From January 2018 to present, the Guyana Police Force has recorded a four percent increase in robberies with violence and a 22% increase in robberies where no instruments were used by the perpetrators. While there has been a decrease in murders by 17%, robbery under arms by three percent, robbery under arms where instruments other than firearms were used by 20%, break and enter and larceny by 11%, burglary by 9%, rape by 2%, robbery with aggravation by 36% and larceny from the person by 13%.
A breakdown in the categories of murder thus far, this year showed 30 disorderly murders, 20 domestic related murders, 13 robbery related murders, 8 unknown murders, and one execution still killing. The police also seized 97 illegal guns of different calibers.
The police stats in relations to Traffic Management, said there was a 5.7% decrease in Fatal Accidents recorded as of the end of September, 2018 while serious, minor and damage accidents have also been decreased by 31.5%, 46% and 27.1% respectively.
Over half of those deaths were as a result drivers who were speeding and speeding while under the influence of alcohol.
The police stats relating to persons being charged for traffic offences for 2018, show some 66,865 charges being made out.
