I feel extremely constrained to publicly reveal my experiences on a recent visit to Guyana.
On about three occasions during the first week of September, I visited the NIS office at Melanie on the East Coast of Demerara to conduct business. The levels of professionalism displayed by the security and NIS staff, headed by Ms C. Johnson, was impressive.
Their brand of professionalism was highlighted by the willingness of the staff to serve the public promptly and courteously. To me, the staff appreciates the precious nature of time, and are bent on delivering service of a very high order. They exhibit a good template for other public service institutions to emulate. The experience warmed my heart.
I take my hat off to Ms. Johnson and her competent and efficient staff. From my vantage point, they are projecting a very
positive image of the NIS.
Another issue, that I need to make known, concerns the police. As I drove along the streets in Georgetown, the East Coast of Demerara and West Berbice, particularly Weldaad, l encountered some small-framed young policemen on traffic duties. Their courteous and professional manner in addressing and dealing with motorists impressed me. This has given me hope in a reformed Police Force. May I put publicly commend them for their impeccable conduct.
I hope our young policemen get exposure to continuous training to build their professional stature.
Sincerely,
Rennie Chester lnniss
