Dear Editor,
The La Jalousie/ Nouvelle Flanders Neighbourhood Democratic Council wishes to address the letter “NEGLECT BY NDC CHAIRMAN”.
The NDC Office is very much aware of the drain of which the complainant (resident) speaks of at La Jalousie Public Road and it should be noted that the said drain was cleaned two months back. Moreover, the cleaning of the drains on the road shoulders does not fall under the responsibility of the NDC Office yet the NDC would assist time and time again.
The NDC covers nine (9) constituencies and each constituency has a representative. The representative from the constituency of La Jalousie has never complained about this particular area of La Jalousie ever being flooded or is flooded.
More so, the Chairman of this NDC makes it his duty to visit each constituency and indicate to the NDC Office daily where work is needed to be done, he has been doing the duty of a Ranger and a Chairman. The Chairman of the NDC has never spoken to and had any contact with the complainant so it’s very farfetched to question someone’s character without knowing them. The Chairman and the resident have a very honest and open relationship and the villagers can attest to this.
The La Jalousie/ Nouvelle Flanders Neighbourhood Democratic Council’s Office is always open to complaints and a follow up would be done after to ensure all rules and regulations are maintained.
The Community of La Jalousie (Gap Road) was weeded last week by the NDC labourers and they are currently taking care of a dead carcass on the Public Road of the said village as I pen this letter.
There is a team of Community Infrastructure Improvement Project (CIIP) workers, which is attached to the NDC and they also ensure that all drains are cleaned and maintained, these workers are presently working in the village of La Jalousie.
Finally, I must say that no constituency is left unattended and as for the constituency of Windsor Forest, it should be noted that this constituency has five out of the nine constituencies within the NDC jurisdictions so it can appear as though most work is being done within this constituency. In addition, I must add that the standard of the constituency of Windsor Forest has always been maintained by the previous Council so it has been just a matter of up keeping this standard.
Regards,
The La Jalousie/ Nouvelle Flanders
Neighbourhood Democratic Council’s Office

(Kaieteur News) – I am not surprised that electricity demand in Linden has surged by more than 135 per cent from its 2005 level. In fact, given the price at which electricity is supplied there, it would be surprising if demand had not surged. The figures tell the story. Electricity consumption...Sep 06, 2026
