The Motto reads, “I am a PEARL! The world doesn’t owe me anything. I have a lot to offer the world.”
A five-day workshop called PEARL – Poised, Elegant, Ambitious, Respectable Ladies– will be hosted from July 23, 2018 at the Egbert Benjamin Conference and Exhibition Centre.
Among the topics to be taught are General Etiquette, Communication Skills, Ethics, Morals and Values, Poise and Posture, Personal Growth, Personal image, grooming and hygiene, Positive Conflict Resolution and Women’s Empowerment.
According to Ms. Yonette Adams-Wintz, Founder and Co-coordinator, a teacher, Lindener and citizen of the British Virgin Islands, she is targeting females from eight to 18 years old because she believes that it is a parent’s desire to see their children, more so young girls develop into great academic scholars, holding down great jobs and more.
“However, while many take time to assist with homework, send their children to the most expensive lessons in the care of great teachers; morals, values and more are still lacking because in many homes healthy lifestyles have become less formal and more technological. As a result, the physical support for effective upbringing is becoming limited.”
Adams-Wintz who has trained a lot of models in poise, etiquette and morals, noted that she decided to introduce PEARL so that young girls can be a ‘PEARL for Life’.
She lamented how it hurts to see young women enter pageants and they cannot deliver themselves because of morals, poise, ethics and lack of communication skills.
She said PEARL is an interactive programme, a free community-based programme designed to ensure that young girls achieve a good life by instilling great moral values in a safe and nurturing environment while exposing them to life skills in a practical way.
“Practical principles will be applied during this programme to help refine girls into well-mannered young ladies of character, poise and charm.”
Adams-Wintz also noted that for every child’s success it is imperative that the physical, social, spiritual and academic potentials be realized to its fullest; because it would lead to holistic development of the individual becoming well-groomed to face adult hood with confidence and self-esteem.
According to Adams-Wintz when this is achieved the young lady is destined to become an exceptional individual who would have rippling positive effects on the community.
Adams-Wintz said her objective at the end of the five days is to give young girls the opportunity to embrace themselves for who they truly are; help them to realize their personal strength and adapt necessary life skills that will help them to achieve and maintain a life of great character, moral, integrity and purpose. She said she will prepare them for a world of work as PEARLS.
