Guyanese engineering company enters major agreement with Fugro, Worley Parsons

Guyana-based Ground Structures Engineering Consultants Inc. (GSEC) has entered a major agreement with Dutch multinational company, Fugro, and Australian professional services firm, Worley Parsons, for the provision of a range of services covering the life cycle of upcoming projects.
OilNOW witnessed the signing of the agreement, which took place on Thursday at GSEC’s new state-of-the-art facility at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara, Guyana.

Over the past two years, Fugro has complemented GSEC’s capabilities in acquisitions and interpretation of land and marine based geo-intelligence (geotechnical, geospatial, geological) and provides the site characterisation, an integral part of assessing and managing design and construction risk on projects.
“For almost two years, Fugro and GSEC have developed a mutually beneficial relationship. It has been a true partnership, and we look forward to enhancing this relationship with the inclusion of Worley Parsons, with whom we have worked around the globe,” Brian Hottman, Fugro’s Country Manager in Guyana, stated.
The new partnership with Worley Parsons allows the GSEC-Fugro Alliance to expand its current offering in Guyana to provide full project lifecycle support in the oil and gas, mining and infrastructure sectors. This includes the range from concept feasibility to engineering, procurement, construction, project management, commissioning and Brownfield operations support.
“GSEC has grown in capability since the advent of Fugro’s participation with our organisation. The advent of Worley Parsons will now take this to a different level,” commented Charles Ceres, Managing Director of GSEC.
Like GSEC and Fugro, Worley Parsons is committed to the development of local Guyanese capability in the long-term, including enhancing technology and knowledge transfer, education and awareness, and providing technical training, all in support of propelling Guyana’s local resources toward a state of self-sufficiency.
“Worley Parsons is pleased to be associated with this work as we can bring our relevant global capabilities into Guyana, which will create local skills development and knowledge transfer as the work progresses,” Neil Robertson, Worley Parsons Regional Managing Director, said.
Worley Parsons has assigned its Regional CARICOM Director Philip Julien to oversee operations under the new agreement.
