A block maker from Cooper Street, Albouystown, Georgetown was remanded to prison yesterday after the court heard that a man he attempted to kill, is still hospitalized with life threatening injuries.
Malcolm Culley appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where he was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
It is alleged that on May 18, at Albouystown, Georgetown with intent to commit murder, he wounded Rawle Khan. The 27year-old was remanded to prison until June 11.
Appearing for Culley was Attorney-at-law George Thomas who told the court that his client is more than willing to comply with any conditions, should the court be minded to grant bail. The lawyer further said that his client poses no risk of flight.
However, the police prosecutor opposed bail for Culley citing the serious nature of the offence and the fact that the victim is still hospitalized with punctured lungs. Among the other injuries sustained by the victim, were fractured ribs and lacerations about the body.
Police are still to complete investigations.
