Christmas Eve night burglar jailed

A man who waited until his neighbours left and went out for their Christmas Eve Night outing then broke and entered the dwelling house has been jailed for eight months.
Safraz Ally, 26, of East Canefield, East Canje, was handed the penalty by Magistrate Renita Singh in the Reliance Magistrate’s Court after he was found guilty of break and entering the dwelling house of Latchman Harripersaud.
According to the Prosecution case, the accused and virtual complainant are known to each other. On December 24, last, Harripersaud secured his house and went out with his son to enjoy the Christmas Eve night celebrations. On his return, he noticed his house broken into. Further checks revealed that the place was ransacked and one 48-inch television set, worth $240,000 was missing.
The matter was reported and upon investigation, Ally a known convict was arrested and charged. He was reportedly seen by residents during his escape bid.
He first admitted to the crime, but subsequently changed his plea and was found guilty and handed the eight-month sentence.
