I debunk Mr. Ramkarran’s claims and outburst

Dear Editor,
I refer to the caption in the Stabroek News, dated Monday, March 05, 2018 “Post of Police Commissioner should be advertised” by Ralph Ramkarran. The content of the columnist’s article is obviously referring to the Guyana Police Force for lack of confidence and public trust.
I hereby quote from Ralph’s expression and debunk it at once “the position of Commissioner of Police be advertised so as to attract best qualified from Guyana and the region” Ralph is obviously stating an outrageous and inconsiderate comment that the Guyana Police does not produce qualified, epitomized, illustrious, vanguard, intelligent and competent Officers. I beg to debunk his claims and outburst.
My dear readers let’s look at a few Officers within the Guyana Police Force that have worked and are working tirelessly to build public trust and to enhance the development of the force; Assistant Commissioner / Acting Commissioner of Police Mr. David Ramnarine, a flamboyant and confident man that articulates coherently at all times. He is an expert in his field and qualified academically.
Assistant Commissioner Paul Williams a man that has paved the way for young men and women. He has also built a phenomenal reputation for himself and is qualified in many ways academically. Mr. Williams has been in the Guyana Police Force for more than thirty years. His expertise has developed him to be a grounded, honest, humble and eloquent man.
He has toiled for this our dear land. Assistant Commissioner Mr. Nigel Hoppie has provided corporate oversight on all aspects in the Finance Department of the Guyana Police Force; he has displayed an exemplary Executive style of Leadership, obviously Ralph! This man’s expertise and qualification is a win for the job.
Assistant Commissioner “Administration,” Ms. Maxine Graham DSM, 2018, Certificates, DPI. This endearing woman has implemented, more than any other organisation can ever strive for, her strategic plans in developing the Human aspect of the Force.
This is something the public can allude to. I salute her for her democratic style of Leadership and expertise. She is also academically qualified for the job. Mr. Ramkarran, you spoke about “good community relations.”
May I bring to your attention a man that many respect from lower and upper class; Mr. Clifton Hicken, Assistant Commissioner. While Mr. Hicken was ‘A’ Division Commandant, he had certainly created activities for the young people within our communities at large which had helped to rebuild public trust and a cooperative society. Mr. Ralph Ramkarran, there are many other Senior Officers who are experienced and academically inclined for the job.
