Dear Editor,
It is widely accepted that the United States of America treats less powerful countries, including Guyana, as stooges for Americas’ interests. The lesser countries dare not stand up to what they know is blatantly unjust and unfair in a supposedly multilateral world. The lesser countries seem to have little choice but to allow power-abusing America’s domination and exploitation to prevail.
But why don’t the local politicians not endeavour to do the best inside their own country? Surely, there are things that elected representatives can do to benefit their country and safely avoid the wrath of the bully. America’s arrogance should not be the preferred way to run countries domestically. Arrogance is an impediment to true nation–building.
Sincerely,
Faiyaz Alli
