A footballer who allegedly stole $3M worth in gold from a Brazilian miner was yesterday remanded to prison on an armed robbery charge.
Twenty-six-year-old Joseph Osborne also known as ‘Kat’ of Bagotville, West Bank Demerara appeared before Principle Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
He denied the charge which alleged that on September 22, last at Water Front Port Kaituma, he robbed Francisco DaSantos of a quantity of gold valued $3M, and at the time of or immediately after he used personal violence towards the victim.
Police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield had no objection to bail being granted to the defendant but asked that it be in a substantial amount.
However, the Magistrate remanded the defendant to prison.
She instructed the defendant to make his next court appearance on March 14 for report and statements.
