The National Cultural Centre will come alive this weekend when new graduates of the National School of Theatre Arts and Drama perform ‘Skin Teeth Nah Laff’, a comedy by Michael James.
The graduates are expected to thrill the audience as they cavort to this comedy for all ages.
According to a press release from the organisers, “The play is being staged at a critical time in our social metamorphosis into a more desired humane posture, as regards treatment of the elderly and disadvantaged.
The play is essentially a Comedy that satirizes the said situation in an imagined dysfunctional family, dependent upon remittances from the USA. They detest their duties, to care for their great uncle recovering from a stroke.”
The release added, “They “Skin their teeth” and laugh with him out of sheer convenience.
‘Uncle Paps’, as he is called in the play, plans a hilarious and most ludicrous revenge for the bad treatment. Patrons, especially Guyanese in the remittance business, should hold on to their ribs as this bold comedy unfolds.”
The play is being performed as part of a diverse package of entertainment and celebrations for Guyana’s 48th Republic Anniversary. For those persons who want to participate in a less physical manner, Skin Teeth Nah Laff is tailor made.
The actors charged with presenting this rambunctious comedy are Tristana Roberts, Donna Anne Shivon Sargeant, Kevin Kellman, Akeisha Gaul, Fredrick Minty and Godfrey Naughton Henry, who also directs the play.
The show goes down tonight and tomorrow night from 20:00hrs. Tickets cost $1,000, $1,500 and $2,000.
The show aims at providing a platform for the graduates to demonstrate their talent.
