A family of five is now contemplating their next move after their two storey home at Parika Junction, East Bank Essequibo was completely destroyed by fire.
Kaieteur News understands that the building also housed a barber shop and food stall.
The fire, reportedly unknown in origin, started at around 15:50hrs yesterday.
Although there were desperate attempts by persons to save the building via a bucket brigade, the raging fire ripped through the wooden and concrete structure.
By the time the fire service arrived at the scene, the property was almost completely destroyed.
Residents claimed that the fire tenders had limited water which resulted in the total destruction. Others claimed that the tenders had no water.
This is the second destructive fire to have occurred in Parika in less than a week.
Last Saturday, a stall and bond were gutted in the Parika Market Centre, leaving two business owners claiming millions in losses.
