(Kaieteur News) – Dem boys hear a politician telling de nation how he talk to plenty survivors of de M.V. Barima tragedy, and dem survivors tell he de vessel was in bad shape and overloaded. But de real bombshell is that one crew member allegedly say he wasn’t going to sail de vessel and then, according to what de politician say he was told, a phone call come in.

After de phone call, de vessel sail.

Now dem boys seh: Hold on! Who call?

Because if this story is true, this is no ordinary phone call. This is de kind of phone call that gat evidential value

Dem boys want know if de politician record what de survivors tell he. Did he take down names? Did he ask who was present? Did he establish which crew member supposedly refused to sail? Did he find out who made de phone call? Did he find out what was said?

And if de politician really believes this phone call was an instruction from “higher authorities” to sail against de crew member’s will, dem boys have another question: Will he bring these survivors before de Commission?

Not “I talk to plenty people.”

Not “people tell me.”

Bring de people.

Let de Commission hear directly from de persons who allegedly witnessed the conversation and know what happened before and after that mysterious phone call.

And dem boys want know something else. If de passengers themselves had been told de vessel was in poor condition and overloaded, why did all of dem still board de vessel?

Did everybody know de Barima was unsafe but decide, “Well, de boat might sink, but we got to reach Port Kaituma”?

Dem boys not saying de politician story is false. Dem boys saying a story this serious cannot remain a telephone story.

If there was a phone call, find out who made it.

If there was an order, find out who gave it.

If there was a refusal to sail, find out who refused.

And if there are witnesses, let dem testify.

Because de COI is not a rum shop, and “somebody tell me” is not evidence.

Dem boys seh, in a tragedy this grave, de truth should not come through grapevine.
