Police are trying to track down five bandits who stormed the Barama, Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara compound on Saturday evening and robbed the company’s CEO and supervisor, both of whom are Indonesian nationals.
The bandits all of whom were armed with handguns stormed the company’s compound at around 23:45hrs. They confronted 54-year-old security guard Samuel Seline of Haslington North, East Coast Demerara and relieved him of a 12 gauge shot gun and five rounds of ammunition before duct-taping his mouth and binding his hands and feet. The shotgun belongs to the company. They also relieved the security guard of his cellular phone.
Kaieteur News understands that the gunmen then kicked down the door to the living quarters of the company’s 54-year-old CEO and its 50-year-old supervisor, Holder Dinmolital, and held them at gunpoint. They were robbed of a total of $178,000 Guyana currency, US$120, two cellular phones valued at $360,000 and a gold chain worth $200,000. A woman, Janel Slytman, 30, of Parika, East Bank Demerara who was also in the compound at the time was robbed of a gold chain and two gold rings valued at $110,000.
In an effort to apprehend the gunmen who escaped in a silver-grey motorcar, police have reviewed CCTV footage from nearby buildings, since according to information received the company has no security cameras.
No arrests have been made.
