Joseph Harmon, 50, is now dead, following an accident yesterday, around 06:45hrs on the Land of Canaan Public Road, East Bank Demerara.
Harmon of Relief Public Road was a passenger in the minibus bearing registration number BSS 8672, driven by a 32 year-old. The man reportedly exited the bus to allow another passenger to enter when a motor lorry bearing registration number GRR 9592, driven by a 28 year old, allegedly lost control and hit him.
According to reports, the lorry and minibus were proceeding north on the western side of the public road and motorcar PTT 9066 was proceeding in the opposite direction when the minibus stopped to pick up a passenger.
It was here that Harmon came out of the bus and was hit by the lorry. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
Breathalyzer tests were conducted on the drivers but failed to detect any alcohol.
The drivers are presently in custody and assisting ranks with investigations.
