The road to police promotions

Dear Editor,
From all current appearances, it seems that the criteria for promotion to very senior positions in the Guyana Police Force have been severely altered. There is then no need for Officers aspiring to being promoted based on high quality service, following up on relevant qualifications by way of policing courses and University Programmes.
Acquiring these goals mentioned before is a waste of time since all that is required is for an Officer to carry out the will of political masters e.g. a launching pad to recommendation for a senior position is to supervise the killing of innocent protestors.
Next step is to pay only nuisance value to a claim that someone was offered a sum of money to assassinate the President of Guyana. Of course we were only talking of the President here and our bedfellows signaled that there was no merit in a proper investigation.
Therefore, without much prodding, we looked the other way. That, among other misdeeds placed us to almost Head of the Class. Service and Protection? Service to whom? Protection for whom? Surely not the President of Guyana!
