… third time within a year
Ron Cadogan, 21, a drug dealer, who is well known to the authorities, has been nabbed again even as he is on bail for another drug related offence.
His latest arrest is the third within a year. He was found guilty on a previous arrest for being in possession of cocaine and marijuana.
Cadogan, of Lot 365 Third Street, East Canfield, East Canje, Berbice, was among a group of men liming at the corner of Galaxy Street, Canefield, East Canje Berbice. Police were on mobile patrol around 20:30 hrs in the area when they notice the men acting in a suspicious manner. Upon seeing the police they began to run.
The police gave chase and Cadogan who was among the lot was seen throwing a red and white gift bag into some nearby bushes. The bag was retrieved and was found to contain what appeared to be leaves seeds and stems of the marijuana plant.
Cadogan who was found hiding in some nearby bushes was arrested and taken into custody at the Reliance Police Station. The item was weighed and tested and found to be 167 ½ grams of marijuana.
He was charged and appeared in the New Amsterdam Magistrate Court before Magistrate Alex Moore and was granted bail in the sum of $40,000. The matter has since been transferred to the Reliance Magistrate’s Court.
Cadogan was previously charged with on January 24, last, for being in possession of five grams of cocaine and 104 grams of marijuana at his home. He was arrested along with his 49-year-old wife, and his 21-year-old step daughter.
He was granted bail in the sum of $75,000. That matter is still pending.
The police had swooped down on the premises around 22:00 hrs and conducted a search. They discovered a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems of marijuana stashed in a corner in a bathroom along with a container of a cream-like substance which was later tested and found to be cocaine.
Cadogan was earlier that said day found guilty on a charge of possession of narcotics. He had four grams of marijuana in his pocket on March 10, 2016. He was found guilty and fined $3,000 or four months in jail. He was also arrested in April 2013 when he was 17 years old with four grams Cocaine during a police sting operation.
The police had secreted themselves in the neighbourhood and used a decoy to purchase the cocaine. During the transaction the cops moved in made an arrest.
The police have once again expressed reservation at the granting of bail.
