– Calls on cops to hunt him down
With her head almost severed, 12 chops to her back and multiple stab wounds about her body, a 34-year-old woman is calling on the police to act quickly and find her estranged husband who promised to end her life.
Shireen Deotadeen is convinced that Amar Sawh, the father of her four children, will stop at nothing to see her dead.
In fact, the man even showed up in front her yard a few days ago and attempted to stab her. Luckily, she escaped. That knife is now in the hands of ranks at the Leonora Police Station where she has made countless reports.
A warrant is also out for Sawh’s arrest but for some strange reason, the suspect manages to track down his victim but the cops have not been able to arrest him.
Deotadeen, who sells coconuts for a living at the Parika, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) Stelling, said that after 19 years of abuse, she made a decision to leave the suspect last February, after he took a hammer and struck her in the head three times.
He didn’t end there—he pulled out a knife and tried to slit her throat but luckily, she managed to escape. The mark is still there.
Since then, she has made reports to the police but her estranged husband has managed to escape the eyes of the cops.
Recalling what transpired, the single mother of four said that in February she went out to sell at the stelling when a neighbour telephoned her and informed that her partner was at home, selling items from their home.
Deotadeen said that she immediately went home but before she could have entered the house, her husband pounced on her from behind the door and attacked her with the hammer. He then ran behind her and tried to slit her throat. The woman managed to escape and made a report to the police.
Last July, the man reappeared in front of her father’s home and punched his son in the belly before rushing up to the woman with a knife.
Luckily for her, there was a piece of wood close by and she managed to hit the knife out of his hand. The man then ran away.
On Thursday morning, Sawh went to the woman’s coconut stand. Upon seeing him, she ran for her life and he used the opportunity to pack her coconuts and a cooler in a taxi and fled.
“The coconuts are my only income. I depend on that to support my children and he gone with them,” she cried while adding that her body is covered in marks having been tortured for 19 years by her alcoholic husband.
Deotadeen is calling on the police to arrest her estranged husband as soon as possible since she and her children are scared.
