Sadik Mohamed, 33, of Lot 106 Good Hope, East Coast Demerara and Gavendra Nirmal, 57, both pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that between June 9 and June 11 at Hadfield Street, Georgetown, they broke into a union hall and stole two paintings, one radio, a water bottle and a quantity of clothing.
It was further alleged that on the same day, they broke into Khan’s Auto Sale and stole one DVR, six car lights, a laptop, and 10 tape decks among other items belonging to Mohamed Khan.
They were each sentenced to three years’ imprisonment on each charge. The prison term will run concurrently.
Police Prosecutor Preston John stated that Khan secured his business place and went out.
Upon his return he noticed that the place was broken into and that the items mentioned in the charge were missing. A report was filed with the police.
The police acting on information were able to arrest the two accused. They were both told of the offence which they admitted to.
