Mother of four remanded for trafficking ganja

A mother of four yesterday made an appearance before City Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to a charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Remanded to prison: Michelle Marwick

Forty-two-year-old, Michelle Marwick, of Lot 226 Garnett Street Newtown, Kitty, denied the charge which alleged that on May 31, last, at Kitty, Georgetown, she had in her possession 341.8 grams of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves objected to bail being granted to the defendant citing the serious nature of the offence and the penalty the charge attracts.
The prosecutor went on to inform the court that on the day in question around 16:00hrs, police conducted a raid on the defendant’s home and the narcotics were found on a table in the defendant’s bedroom.
The court heard that when the defendant was arrested she admitted both orally and in a caution statement that she was the owner of the narcotics.
The unrepresented woman was remanded to prison and she will make her next court appearance on June 26.
