East Coast Masters, Savage and All Star registered victories when the Cheddi Jagan Memorial 10/10 softball tournament was contested recently at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.
Playing in the over 40 division, East Coast Masters beat Airy Hall of Essequibo Coast by 42 runs. East Coast Masters batted first and managed 112-5 with Ramesh Persaud scoring 45 while extras contributed 20. S. Sankar had 2-20. Airy Hall were limited to 70-6 in reply. Richmond Patterson made 25 and Yugesh Persaud 19; L. Singh took 3-19 and Vivikant Ramsaywack 2-19.
In the over 40 category, Savage overcame Airy Hall by three wickets. Airy Hall took first strike and scored 112-7. Fizul Mohamed made 67 and A. Rambarran and V. Ramsaywack had 2-6 and 2-19 respectively.
Savage responded with 115-7 in 9.1 overs. Ramo Malone stroked 70 not out as P. Khan had 2-10.
In the open segment, Success lost to All Stars by one wicket. Success scored 92-8, batting first. Chris Dindyal got 30 and Lakeram Etwaroo 25. Shafraz Ali had 3-16. All Stars made 93-7 in 9.4 overs in reply. Devanand Samaroo got 36 and Alli 15. Jerry Singh and Pooran John had two wickets each.
