City Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday remanded a clothes vendor for allegedly robbing two persons with a pointed object.
The man, Seon Charles, 28, of Lot 348 Cummings Street, Alberttown, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the allegations which alleged that on March 24, at Sussex Street, Charlestown, while being armed with a pointed object, he robbed Faith Samuels, of a bag and an umbrella.
It was further alleged that on the same day he robbed Shem Nehaul of two cellular phones all totalling $85, 000.
The defendant was represented by Attorney-at-Law Paul Fung-a-Fat who told the court that his client is a student at Global Technology and has no prior matter in any other court.
Fung-at-Fat further stressed that his client was never placed on an identification parade neither were the stolen items found in his possession.
The attorney further stated that the incident is a clear case of mistaken identity.
However, Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves objected to bail for the defendant citing the seriousness and penalty attached to the offence.
The prosecutor also pointed out the fact that a pointed object was used to commission the robbery.
He also contended that the defendant is a flight risk and if granted bail he will not return to the court for the trial.
The prosecutor stated that the investigations are still ongoing in this matter.
Seon Charles will make his next court appearance on April 10.
