Three Dominican Republic nationals who are said to be exotic dancers at the Rio Inn/ Night Club were yesterday fined $30,000 each for overstaying in Guyana, after which immediate deportation.
The three women, Stephanie Herrera, 25; Soribel Diaz, 25; and Cynthia Delarosa, 29; through their Attorney Mark Waldron, asked Magistrate Brendon Glasford to re-read the charge to them.
The charge read that Herrera and Diaz were given permits to stay in Guyana from the period of October 12 to November 11, but remained until December 15.
They both pleaded guilty to the charge after it was read to them by the Magistrate.
Meanwhile Delarosa was given permit to stay in Guyana from the period of February 21 to March 21, but overstayed until December 15 last.
The women was also fined $40,000 each for conspiring with persons unknown to forge Guyana Immigration Service arrival and departure stamps inserted on a page in their Dominican Republic passports.
Cynthia Delarosa was also fined $40,000 for obtaining money by false pretence.
Their Attorney told the court that his clients had entered Guyana lawfully via the Eugene F. Correia International Airport, and that they stayed at the Rio Inn Strip Club, where they worked as dancers.
At the first hearing of the matter which was before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, the women all pleaded not guilty to the charges and was all released on $40,000 bail each, even though Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones objected to bail citing that the defendants has no ties in Guyana.
Delarosa who spoke to the Court through the aid of a Spanish Interpreter said that she wanted to go home to be with her baby daughter whom she hasn’t seen in a long time.
