…grab $700,000 cash, $150,000 in phone cards
A Chinese national was gun-butted when four armed bandits, wearing construction hats, stormed his newly opened supermarket on Aubrey Barker Street, South Ruimveldt Gardens around 09:15 hrs yesterday.
The bandits escaped with over $700,000 in cash and more than $150,000 in phone cards from the Convenience Supermarket.
According to information received, two of the bandits entered the supermarket and went straight to the cashier and demanded that she hand over the cash while their two accomplices walked behind them and pulled in the supermarket’s doors.
Kaieteur News was told that when the owner of the place objected, one of the men pulled out a gun and hit him on the head.
The men then collected the cash and phone cards and escaped. The robbery was recorded on surveillance camera. No customer was in the building at the time of the robbery.
The supermarket is less than a month old.
