A man is still hospitalized after he was chopped several times about his body during an altercation with two men on Christmas night at Station Street, Kitty, Georgetown.
Mohamed Nasir Edun, 28, and Muhamed Ameer Edun, both of Lot 16 James Street, Albouystown, are accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounded Terrence Ally, with intent to murder him.
The duo represented by Attorney Darren Wade was not required to plead to the charge, after they appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts yesterday.
They were each ordered to post $175,000 bail.
According to Police Prosecutor, Simone Payne, the two accused and the Ally were
involved in a heated argument around 21:00hrs, on the day in question during which Mohamed Nazir Edun chopped him to the head and elbow with the cutlass. The prosecutor pointed out that the altercation stemmed after Muhamed Ameer Edun accused Ally of looking at him “too strong.”
However, Attorney Wade told the court that his clients were merely defending themselves after Ally attempted to rob them. He said that the cutlass belonged to the injured man.
They will make their next court appearance on January 20.
