A 22-year-old man was on Saturday last killed after he lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into a utility pole.
Dead is Hemraj Sudama of Line Path, Skeldon, Corentyne who succumbed to his injuries at the Skeldon Public Hospital.
According to Traffic Chief of ‘B’ Division, Mr. Bhudnarine Persaud, it was reported by an eyewitness that the young man was riding his motorcycle bearing registration number CF 5587 along Jumai Street, #78 Village, Corentyne at a fast rate when he swerved into a pothole and subsequently, lost control of his motorcycle, before slamming into a utility pole.
According to reports, Sudama was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to
the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The traffic chief said that Sudama was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and is suspected to have been intoxicated.
A post mortem is expected to be performed today to determine the cause of death
while investigations are continuing.
Sudama was said to be working at the Guyana Sugar Corporation.
