An instructor of the National Drama School was charged and released on bail over a fatal accident
which occurred four months ago on Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown, after he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Godfrey Henry, 66, is accused of driving a car, licence number HC 419, in a manner dangerous to the public on April 28, thereby causing the death of Fitzroy Bailey.
The defendant was represented by Attorney Savannah Barnwell in association with Nigel Hughes. He was released on $300,000 bail.
During a bail application, Barnwell told the court that her client is a father of six. She mentioned that he is the sole breadwinner of his family. According to the lawyer, Henry is an instructor at the National Drama School, and also works part-time as a hire car driver.
Police Prosecutor Shevon Jupiter did not oppose the defendant being admitted to pre-trial liberty. However, she asked that bail be set in a substantial amount.
Jupiter said that Henry was previously charged with failing to render assistance after the accident. The prosecutor indicated that investigations in the matter have been completed.
Magistrate Leron Daly instructed the defendant to return to court on September 7, for disclosure of statements.
