– Nevaeh Clarkston and Isaiah Layne take U-13 silver
Kaysan Ninvalle broke the Trinidad and Tobago dominance at the Caribbean Pre-Cadet Table Tennis
Championship played at the National Indoor Sports Centre (NISC) in Jamaica as he stormed to the lone gold medal in the Under-11 department yesterday.
According to reports from Jamaica and confirmed by local Table Tennis official, Godfrey Munroe, Ninvalle defeated Janah Maugie of Trinidad in the final. Known as a fierce young competitor, Ninvalle would have snuck in to halt T&T’s run as they would have dominated most of the action since the team competition phase.
Nevaeh Clarkston and Isaiah Layne fought hard but came up just short to claim silver medals after going down in the finals of the Boys and Girls U-13 divisions.
This adds to the medals they have already won in the team and doubles frames. This is a commendable performance from the youngsters and bodes well for the future of local Table Tennis as they have shown they can compete with honours at the regional level at this tender age. With the requisite preparation they can match the Trinidadians in the years to come.
