The Mayor and Town Council of the newly accredited town of Bartica recently
held a major Green Sensitisation Exercise in the form of an Emancipation Walk.
The Green Walk commenced at the Stelling Square and concluded one hour later at the Bartica Regatta Pavilion.
Dozens of residents came out to support the walk whilst also using the event to garner some valuable exercise as the walk route took them through the flat and hilly areas of Bartica.
Prizes were awarded to the groups that participated and among those were Bartica Hospital, The Red Cross, Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry, Citizens Bank, Churches Chicken and PYARG.
Residents walked for a Cleaner, Greener Bartica, Sustainable Mining and a Healthier life.
Many more sensitisation exercises are planned by the Mayor and Town Council in the coming weeks.
