– CSEC students told
Students who fail to return textbooks loaned to them by the Ministry of Education through their respective schools will not be able to access their Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Examination results.
This is according to a statement issued by the Education Ministry yesterday.
The statement was disseminated even as candidates anxiously await the results of the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) – administered exams.
The Ministry has also put parents and guardians on notice as well.
“This request,” according to the Ministry statement, “is in keeping with the Ministry’s Textbook Policy, which states, ‘Learners must return books before Progress Reports, Examination Results, Recommendations, or References are uplifted’.”
As such it was noted that the Ministry is forced to adopt this unfortunate position in an effort to provide adequate text books and similar opportunities to the next batch of students.
The 2016 May-June CSEC examinations commenced in April and culminated in early June of this year.
When the 2015 results were unveiled, it was 16-year-old Victoria Najab of the privately-operated Saraswati Vidya Niketan (SVN) Secondary School who claimed the top national performing place at CSEC with her 20 grade one passes.
