Dear Editor;
The recent rant by Mayor Chase-Green protesting the apparent unfavorable context(s) in which her name might have been used seems more attributable to a rookie politician than someone in the public eye for 34 years. It is unbecoming of any public official to make those kinds of remarks.
The Mayor should know that once in the public eye, one will be subjected to the good, the bad and the ugly. What will matter is how you conduct yourself or how you execute your functions. Decrying what the media or people say about you is the behaviour of a thin-skinned juvenile. If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen!
Some recent media photos have depicted a Mayor wagging her index finger with sun glasses addressing vendors under tent. Not a good image.
The Mayor’s attitude and public comments on the parking meters dilemma reflects lack of due consideration of the citizens of Georgetown.
That no public hearings before undertaking and implementing such a dubious project reflects a lack of protocol and lack of good judgement and bad governance.
That no other feasible methods of collecting parking fees have been considered and discussed is frightening. This seems to be ‘a pig in bag’ decision.
The citizens of Georgetown would want a Mayor who looks out for their best interests in all matters public.
And unfavorable things will still be said about you and detractors will be discredited as the city looks and feels better. Yes cities have feelings too! When you want to be there rather than have to be there.
Philip Williams

Do you think the mayor would be reading your letter?
I doubt it and if she even reads it, would she fully understand?
It is baffling in this day of education and application, that such a person should be sitting in the mayor’s seat.
