A fight between two young women has left one nursing multiple stab wounds about her body while the other one who is said to be five months pregnant has been arrested and placed in the lockups at Aurora.
Both parties have since agreed to settle the matter.
According to reports, both women worked at a night club in Cotton Field, Essequibo Coast. The stabbing incident allegedly occurred after the pregnant woman observed her husband and the victim in a compromising position.
She retaliated with a violent outburst by stabbing the victim multiple times about her body. The victim was hospitalized. Today her injuries are not life threatening.
The owner of the club indicated that both women have since agreed to settle the matter outside of court. But with this new development where serious injuries could have resulted in death, Essequibians are calling on the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs, the Labour Ministry and the Social Protection Ministry to look into the issue, and to devise a working plan to have those young girls and sometimes women who are employed at clubs in the region with an aim to fuel financial resources for businesses, to obtain a proper or sound education.
