Disaster struck around noon yesterday when two vehicles collided in the Albouystown
community. They collided at the intersection of Hunter Street and Independence Boulevard, Albouystown. Involved in the accident was a Toyota Runx, PMM 2216 and a Toyota Hilux PRR 404.
The driver of the Hilux said that he was proceeding south along Hunter Street when his vehicle was clipped by the other vehicle causing his vehicle to flip several times before coming to a stop. He said that he was carrying, at the time, a woman and a baby in the backseat of his vehicle.
The driver of the Runx stated that she was driving west along Independence Boulevard when she observed a vehicle coming down Hunter Street. She said that she proceeded to blow her horn whilst attempting to bring her car to a halt.
“I applied my brakes and my brakes failed, and I end up clipping him and he toppled down the road” intimated the female driver.
According to reports provided by bystanders and the Police at the scene of the incident, a man was hit by the spiralling Hilux Jeep and has since been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC).
Investigations are still ongoing.
