spread of 406, as against the latter’s 175, that clinched the top spot when the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP) staged an Intermediate tournament at the Herdmanston Lodge, Queenstown, last Sunday evening. .
Paul Adams amassed 4 games with a positive spread of 145 to seal off the podium spots while Enterprise scrabble player, Anand Mohabir, scored 4 points with a positive spread of 39 to finish in the 4th place.
Bingos flowed and it was Delon Moffat and Kevin Williams who formed 11 bingos apiece but the former player was given the edge after the organizers voted to give the prize to the player with the highest bingo score.
Cave managed to register the highest bingo points after scoring a triple (overtips) that netted him 172 points.
Meanwhile, the organizers are very grateful to the management of Herdmanston Lodge for accommodating the players. One of the organizers, James Krakowsky admitted that the host entity had a number of functions that coincided with the 50th Anniversary celebrations yet they delivered a special service to the scrabble players “We found the Herdmanston Lodge to be a breezy, quiet alcove for GASP,” stressed Krakowsky.
