Hunt on for suspect in cousin killing
A hunt is on for the man who is said to have stabbed his 61-year-old cousin on Saturday night which later

resulted in the man’s death.
Police sources said that the suspect, 54-year-old Aubrey Clerk, disappeared after stabbing his cousin, Lennox Norton, during a drunken brawl at their Lot 70 Lodge Housing Scheme home.
Clerk is a vendor at the Stabroek Market.
Yesterday, Clerk’s relatives said that since the incident they haven’t heard from the suspect.
Norton was stabbed to the abdomen. He died around 04:00 hrs on Sunday while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The police in a statement said that at about 21:30hrs on Saturday, Norton was imbibing with a male cousin when they became involved in an argument during which he was stabbed to his abdomen.
The victim and suspect were residing in the same house at Lodge at the time of the murder.
Winifred Garraway, the suspect’s mother and the cousin of the dead man, said that she was in her bed when she heard an argument between the two men and immediately told Norton not to worry with her son, whom she described as “a troublemaker when he drinks”.
She explained that after she told her cousin not to pay attention to her son, she didn’t hear anything else until people started screaming.
The woman, who is visually impaired, said that she was then told that her son had stabbed the father of five.
According to the woman, the victim had moved into her home some three weeks ago, since he had nowhere else to go. He had worked in the interior, and was reportedly preparing to return to work soon, since he had already packed his bag to travel.
While no one could say what the argument between the two men was about, some assumed that the suspect was maybe jealous, since Norton was cooking and doing everything for the (suspect’s) mother.
A relative of the two men said that he had just arrived home and heard screaming. He thought that bandits had attacked his family.
“I done pick up my cutlass and run in, then I hear that Lennox get stabbed.”
Norton was rushed to the hospital where he was immediately prepared for surgery.
Relatives were informed that the man suffered from severe internal injuries as a result of the wound he sustained.
“De doctor say he also lost a lot of blood,” a relative stated.
They are all hoping that Norton’s killer gives himself up or quickly captured.
