Kempadoo, Senwasane and Latiff shine as Port Mourant CC defeat Whim National
Led by a well-played unbeaten century by top order batsman Ezekiel Kempadoo , Port Mourant Cricket Club’s hammered Whim National by an innings and 205 runs after the latter forfeited their second innings in a game of the BCB/ New York Business Group U-19 one day two innings competition.
Winning the toss, and batting first in the game which was played at the Whim Community Centre, Port Mourant led by Ezekiel Kempadoo’s unbeaten 102 (5 fours, 2 sixes), reached 270-7 before declaring after just 45 overs at the crease. Other useful contributions came from Veramootoo Senwasane with 44, Jamar Lancaster 31 and Vivekanand Jagjit 29.
Bowling for Whim National, Mahindra Charran took 3 wickets, while R. Appadu and D. Davis took one each.
In their turn at the crease, Whim’s did not show much fight and were bundled out for a paltry 65. Charran returned with the bat to score 25 and N. Deonarine with 23 were the only batsmen to reach double figures as six of their batsmen fell for ducks.
Bowling for the Port Mourant Cricket Club, Kevin Latiff led the way with 3 for 14, Emmanuel Seecharran picked up 2 -24, while there was one wicket each for Cheddi Budhoo and Jamar Lancaster.
Being faced with a deficit of 205 runs and asked to follow on the Whim National Team although playing on their home ground was overtaken by fright and decided to forfeit their second innings instead of facing the possibility of being embarrassed for the second time.
Port Mourant Cricket Club thus won by an innings and 205 runs.
