Police forge further bonds with communities for Easter
Commander of the Police West Demerara Division, Stephen Mansell, yesterday took community-oriented policing and problem solving to the community of Bonasika.
The Commander and his team distributed a quantity of kites. They also handed over a football and netball to the youths of the community.
Commander Mansell also held a community meeting at which he explained the types of programmes that early school leavers and unemployed youths cane benefit from.
These include Information Technology, Sewing, Food and Nutrition, Carpentry, Motor Mechanic, Electronics, Auto Bodywork and Office Administration, which they can access at the Leonora Technical, Skills and Vocational Training Centre over a one year period, commencing in July.

During the visit, a female volleyball team and a male football team were formed.
A pledge was also made by Senior Superintendent Mansell to provide the Bonasika Primary School with two computers so that Information Technology training can be administered to the students there.
A follow up visit is scheduled for May 1st.
And parents in Number 76 and Crabwood Creek Villages and Corriverton in Berbice do not have to spend that extra dollar for kites for their children, thanks to the ranks of the Springlands Police Station with assistance from the Corentyne business community.
On Thursday, the ranks led by Assistant Superintendent Antonio Fredericks distributed close to 200 kites to children of those communities.
