At a simple presentation ceremony in the Linden Hospital Complex Boardroom yesterday, businesswoman Simone Hodge, of Bernard’s Variety Store presented 20 floor fans to the Linden Hospital Complex.
According to Ms Hodge, her business wanted to assist the hospital because of persistent complaints. “Bernard and I decided to donate these fans to the Linden Hospital Complex because we heard that there are a lot of patients and nurses who are uncomfortable.
“I believe it is right that workers should operate in a conducive environment that’s; so we thought it fit to donate these fans to the LHC so patients and the nurses can be comfortable.”
Administrator of the Linden Hospital Complex, Trevor Vangenderen, in thanking Mrs. Hodge for the timely donation on behalf of the Board, management and staff, said that the fans came at a time when the central air conditioning system is not working as it should.
“I just want to thank Bernard’s Variety. I think the word that you got that patients and the staff are uncomfortable is so true, so a big thank you for this gesture.
“I can assure you that these fans will be put to work immediately.”
Bernard Hodge is deemed the godfather of Linden. He recently donated floodlights to the Guyana Beach Football Association.
Also present at the presentation were PRO of the hospital, Reycia Nedd; Senior Personnel Officer Michelle Bollers; and staff representatives of Bernard’s Variety Store.
