(Kaieteur News) – The Miss Guyana Teen with a Purpose Pageant has returned with a positive twist. The pageant committee and cohort have decided to partner with the Ministry of Education in their fight against bullying in schools. As such, in addition to having their individual platforms, the seven delegates are actively engaged in a sensitization campaign about bullying in their schools and communities.
National Director, Pamela Vaughn explained that the pageant committee has decided to partner with the Ministry of Education in their fight against bullying in schools since it’s a prevalent issue in society today.
“Each contestant will conduct sensitization about bullying in their schools and communities,” she said. So far, the delegates have turned to social media to get their message out.
Under the bold caption “STOP BULLYING” delegates have used the Miss Teen Guyana Teen with a Purpose Pageant Facebook page to share a photo and strong message against bullying. Accompanied by a photo of each contestant holding a placard, the post read “Bullying has no place in our schools.”
The post continued “Every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued when they walk into a classroom. However, the reality is that many students face teasing, exclusion, threats, and even violence that leave lasting emotional scars. Bullying should not be faced by anyone since it can lead to anxiety, depression, poor academic performance, and long-term mental health challenges…Prevention start with awareness, education and action from parents, teachers, students, and community members.”
In addition to joining the conversation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education to eradicate bullying in schools, Ms Vaughn said that this year, the committee is focused on having a representative from the various educational district in Guyana to compete in the pageant, making the pageant a national event that schools, teachers, parents and contestants can look forward to annually.
Under the theme,” Creating a legacy, while becoming her.” that this year’s pageant is a stepping stone for greatness, Areanna Gildarie will be representing District 1; Elina Bissoon District 3; Chaitra Persaud District 4; Aquela Archer District 5; Nazeema Bailey District 6; Syesha Fraser District 10; and Tacasi Cummings District 11.
There will be a marketing challenge sponsored by Austin’s Auto dealership, each contestant will be tasked with creating a promotional video for this company and the winner will be given an opportunity to be a brand ambassador for the business for 1 year. Additionally, there would be a charity drive to St. Cuthbert’s mission where the contestants will be taking school supplies, along with food supplies into the village for the people. The 2026 production of the pageant will be happening on March 28th, 2026. For more information on the pageant contact: 7245027 or email missgtwap20@gmail.com.
