West Coast begins with three matches
The Golyn 10/10 countrywide softball cricket tournament organized by the Guyana Softball League is set to begin tomorrow with several matches around the country. On the West Coast, Speedboat will take on Crossbreed Warriors and Omesh XI will tackle Power XI and West Coast Blazers will battle with Vipers XI. In the East Coast zone four matches will take place at Cyril Potter College Ground. East Bank will have two matches. West Coast Berbice will have 3 matches and Upper Corentyne 2 matches. The other zones Essequibo, Linden, and Leguan, Bonasika, Lower Corentyne as well as Canje will begin next weekend.
The prizes for this tournament are as follows: male -1st prize – 200,000 + trophy; runners up- 100,000 + trophy; MVP finals – 20,000 + trophy. Female: 1st prize – 50,000 + trophy; runners up- 20,000 + trophy; MVP – 10,000 + trophy.
Additionally Three all-rounders will be chosen based on some guidelines to participate in the Canadian League where all expenses will be paid. The players will have some six weeks to be there and some three weeks practice before the league games begin.
