The Cricket Development Programme of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) continued last weekend with two cricket matches at the Area ‘H’ ground. Jason Anderson’s XI defeated Kevlon
Anderson XI in a 35-over match by 32 runs while the Rose Hall Town Metro Female Team defeated a Developmental XI by 18 runs in a 7-a-side 10 overs encounter.
Batting first, Jason Anderson’s XI reached 186-8 off their allotted 35 overs; national Under-15 player Junior Williams led with 81 (5×4 4×6), Chanderpaul Govinda 20, Jason Anderson 16 and Akeema Arokium 14.
Bowling for Kevlon Anderson XI, skipper Anderson took 2-16, national female player Grimmond 2-24 and Surendra Budhoo 2- 27. In response, Kevlon Anderson’s team was bowled out for l65 in 34.2 overs.
Anderson top scored with an elegant 54 (5×4) with other contributions from Simon Naidu 20, Sagluain Johnny 17 and Clement King 15. Doing the damage with the ball were Keith Simpson 2-22, Joel Pike 2-23 Junior Sinclair 2-27.
In the 7-a-side match, the team led by West Indies player Erva Giddings reached 65-5 off their allotted 10 overs; Shemaine Campbelle top scored with 30 and Akeema Arokium 15. Bowling for the Developmental XI, consisting of Under-13 players, Neil Tilkaram took 2-12, 9 year-old Matthew Pattaya 2-15 and Vijay Gopilall 1-9.
The Developmental XI were bowled out for 47 in 9.1 overs, only S. Cort 12 and Neil Tilaram 10 reached double figures. Campbelle returned with the ball to claim 3-10 and Shanda Vanderstoop 2-8.
At the presentation ceremony Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster along with Club Executive Ravin Kissoonlall and Keith Hicks handed over trophies to the winning teams. Foster told the young cricketers that the club would be investing not only in their cricket careers but also their education since the entity views both as equally important.
The RHTY&SC Cricket Developmental Programme in the past two months of 2015 and 2016 would be focusing on the development of cricketers between the ages of 10 to 18 years. Interested youths who are disciplined, hard working and have a strong desire to excel in the classroom are invited to join the programme by visiting the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club office at the Area ‘H’ ground.
The club would not be accepting any school age child who is not attending school as a member unless that person commits himself to register in a school and pledges to complete his / her education.
The Club would assist them in this regard by providing the necessary assistance and would also assign a personal mentor/role model to each individual member.
