The cricket fever is in high gear in the Upper Corentyne area as the second round of the 4R T20 competition for teams was played recently. In all 16 matches were played at 8 venues.
Results of some of the games played showed that at the No. 73 village: No. 72 All Star batted first and scored 107 for 9 in their 20 overs with Devendranauth Jairam hitting 29. Bowling for No. 73 Young Warriors Chanderkumar Ramjass took 3 for 23 and Lakeram Latchman 2 for 21.
In reply No. 73 Young Warriors reached 110 for 4 in 17.2 overs with Lakeram Latchman undefeated on 62, leading the way with extras being 21. Bowling for No. 72 All Star Keith Joseph took 3 for 13.
In the second game at No. 73 Ground; No. 73 Young Warriors batted first in the encounter against Corriverton All stars and were bowled out for 75 in 19.2 overs with Lakeram Latchman 19. Bowling for Corriverton Deoprakash Ramdat bagged 5 for 15 with Eric Phillips supporting with 2 for 6. Corriverton in reply reached 76 off 9.3 overs with Clavern Beresford 41 and Amzan Appalsammy 24 being the main run getters. Bowling for No. 73 Young Warriors’ Lakeram Latchman returned to take 2 for 11.
Some other results shows: No. 52 Survival defeated No. 58 Riot Squad by 114 runs.
No. 69 Vikings won from No. 72 Cut and Load by 8 wickets, No. 69 Vikings beat No. 70 ‘A’ by 8 wickets, Springlands had the better of No. 72 Cut and Load by 6 wickets and Corriverton wining the second game by defeated Scottsburg by 7 wickets.
