A Howes Street, Charlestown man, whose motorcycle was used by bandits who killed rice farmer Hardatt Kissoon, is to be charged today with murder.
The 32-year-old man was arrested recently and police reportedly established that he was the owner of the motorcycle on which two men escaped after killing Kissoon.
Police have already charged another man, Sherwin Trotman, of Lot 45 Section D, South Turkeyen, in connection with the killing. The incident was reportedly recorded on a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera.
Kissoon, a father of three, was shot dead on June 1, at University of Guyana Road, Turkeyen, by a bandit who was posing as a minibus passenger.
The 42-year-old from Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, had joined the bus after leaving a city bank with $500,000.
According to reports, the bandit had asked the driver to stop so he could get off. He then held the rice farmer at gunpoint and demanded Kissoon’s bag.
A struggle ensued and the robber shot Kissoon in the chest before exiting the bus and escaping on a motorcycle with another man.
