The Little Diamond International Martial Arts Academy (LDIMAA) continues to enjoy an outstanding start to the year with a number of their students excelling in various tournaments and examinations.
According to a release from the Academy, twelve students performed outstandingly at the recently concluded Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Karate Association Championships returning with fourteen medals (4 golds, 9 silvers and 1 bronze).
Additionally twenty-one students passed their examinations moving from one level to another, while twenty-five were successful in the first workshop held for the year.
As part of the 9th anniversary celebrations of the Enmore Branch, twenty-three students from three (3) branches of the LDIMAA competed in a National Full Contact Karate Championship, at the Wales Community Centre on the West Bank Demerara.
In the absence of four schools that had pulled out at the last moment, students competed in five (5) Divisions 6-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19 and 20-25Categories and in three (3) events; Traditional Kata, Weapons forms and Kumite (Sparring) of the twenty-three students.

Enmore, with 6 students won 11 medals and 3 Awards;
7 Gold’s, 4 Silvers, 1 Grand championand 2 Outstanding Performances
Parfaite Harmony with 7 students won 7 medals and 3 Awards.
3 Gold, 2 Silvers, 1 Bronzes, 1 Grand champion and 2 Outstanding Performances
Wales with 10 students won 14 medals and 6 Awards.
9 golds, 2 Silvers, 3 bronzes, 3 Grand Champions and 3 Outstanding Performances
Grand Champions of the tournament were: VikashSamwaru of Enmore 13 – 15 Division; Deoraj Bramdeo (7) Christian Freeman (9) and Maranda Bennett (20) of Wales and Arianna Etwaroo (6) of Parfait Harmony.
Special Outstanding Performance Awardsof the tournament went to Suraj Chaitram and Chateram Ramnarian of Enmore; Shannia Richardson and Omesh Lallchand of Parfait Harmony and Samuel Frazer, Rajeena Satnarine and Muneshwar Ganga of Wales.
Shihan Nazim expressed his appreciation for the work that the Instructors are doing and lauded the outstanding efforts of the students, who according to him has made him and the Academy proud.
Students are now preparing for the Annual Trainings Camp which runs from July 19th to 26th.
At the conclusion of the Camp, a team will be selected to compete during August in Suriname, before returning to participate in the Academy’s 3rd International Martial Arts/Karate Championships in September.
