Pensioner recovering after road accident

Boyce said, contrary to what this publication would have published, he was struck by a car and not a minibus.
In his account of what happened, Boyce said that he went to the Agricola Post office to receive his pension, but it was not available, so he decided to make his way back home.
With the Agricola police outpost just above the post office, a police officer stopped traffic on both sides of the road to allow pensioners to cross, using the pedestrian crossing that was in the vicinity, according to Boyce.
He said that he was able to cross the first half of the four lane road, but as he attempted to cross the second half he was struck down by the car which was being piloted by a female staff member of the GPHC.
The driver was subsequently arrested and placed in police custody for 72 hours before she was released. She has since made visits to Boyce and have offered compensation, an action that the man’s daughter has confirmed. “We done settle the matter,” she said.
The woman explained that her father is in good health so there is no need to push the matter. Boyce also told Kaieteur News that the driver was reasonable and remorseful as she paid interest in his well-being since the accident.
He said that he is feeling a little better. He now nurses fractures to his neck, spine, right shoulder, and right elbow and lacerations about the body.
However, he is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon.
