Today marks the end of 6 weeks of refreshing golf play for the 19 golfers who
participated in the exciting President’s 9-Hole Golf League at the Lusignan Golf Club. Table1 gives the outlay of the current 8 best net finalists, over the last 5 weeks, though upsets are always possible when counting net scores.
For amateur golfers the Net score really tests the proficiency of the better golfers, since the
handicap allows weaker players to still get a chance at rating well. In the current scores, President David Mohamad and experienced Kishan Bacchus are in the lead, but they have not always been there and it is possible that they can be displaced; this adds to the excitement of the game! All golfers will certainly try to put their best play forward today so that the 1st to 4th places in the Net scores is open to at least 8 possibilities!
The Gross 1st and 2nd seem fairly clear at this stage. Avinda ‘Gangully’ Kishore – former Guyana Open Champion when at age 18 – seems bent on taking away the Best Gross prize, while former Club Captain and veteran golfer Patrick Prashad also seems set on the 2nd place in the Gross ratings. Only phenomenal play can see those two places being changed. Table 2 shows the top Gross scores.
Club President, David Mohamad, has already informed golfers that there will be 4 Best Net prizes and 2 Best Gross prizes. Moreover, for golfers present at the final day’s play, there will also be some surprise prizes!
The public is invited to view this upcoming Thursday 3:30 p.m. final League tournament – like all other tournaments at the Lusignan Golf Course – free of charge. This weekend, Saturday 2nd May, there will also be a Beacon Ministries sponsored 18-hole tournament at the Course.
