National Cricket Captain, MBK Sponsors trophies
Bannas Foundation (BF) in collaboration with Meadowbrook Kings (MBK) will host a four-a-side Football tournament at the Meadowbrook Recreational Park on Meadowbrook Drive from 09:00hrs on Easter Monday.

MBKs Denzil Butler (middle) presents the championship trophies to tournament Coordinator Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell as Kevin Wallcott of Bannas Foundation share the moment.
The tournament, which will run all day, is divided into two categories, with MBK providing the Trophies and medals for the Open Category and National Cricket Captain and West Indies Test player Leon Johnson sponsoring the Trophies and medals for the Kiddies game.
The tournament has been organised by the Bannas Foundation and its Coordinator 69-year-old Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell who has been a Sports Coordinator for 25 years, disclosed that he encourages anything to do with youths and sports and invited everyone to come out and support this event.
The Bannas Foundation is a youth group based in the United States of America (USA) comprising former Bannas Foundation members who have migrated to North America.
Founded in 1997, Bannas Foundation’s intention is to contribute to Guyana’s development through Sports.
Wallcott says the Bannas Foundation feels that the involvement in sports is an excellent method for young people to gain invaluable life lessons.
“Our aim is to provide our youths with the opportunity to engage in organised training programmes in each of our traditional sports like Cricket, Football, Athletics, Boxing, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Swimming and Cycling,” Wallcott said.
“Guyana is blessed with many resources, with people being the most precious. It is our duty to ensure that we fully utilize those resources for the benefit of all concerned. In anticipation of the need to coordinate some aspect of our vision with the work of your organisation or Company, I invite your cooperation,” Wallcott concluded.
Refreshments will be on sale and admission is free for what should be an exciting day of Football. (Sean Devers)
