Novel based on the two lost girls from Apoteri was published in Britain

The article ‘Girl lost in jungle 19 years ago recalls ordeal’ which appeared in a Sunday newpaper is indeed remarkably timely. I say this because my novel ‘The Balata Sisters’, a fiction inspired by the two lost girls from Apoteri, was published this month in Britain.
I started writing this novel in 1996 soon after I learnt about the girls’ ordeal in the Guyana jungle.
The novel is a product of my imagination. Characters and occurrences are fictitious and drawn largely from third party anecdotes and my background in commercial forestry. As the novel was written over a ten-year period I took the author’s liberty of weaving into the narrative, elements that bring the story closer to the present day, dealing loosely with such topical issues as TIP and forest conservation.
By next month the novel will be available in, or through, popular bookshops here as well as in the UK, USA and Canada initially. It is already available on Amazon.
