working with the Mayor and City Council to restore the structure.
According to the Ministry of Public Works, Minister Robeson Benn, along with engineers from the Work Services Group (WSG) and Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD), inspected the stelling with the view of providing a Bill of Quantities (BOQ) to the Council.
Earlier this week a critical part of the roof collapsed, sparking criticisms about the upkeep of one of the most recognizable landmarks in the country. The concept to prepare the BOQ is for the restoration of the deteriorating structure which falls under the upkeep of M&CC, the Ministry said.
“T&HD engineers are assessing the pilings and substructures, while WSG engineers are focusing on the superstructure…walls and roof.”
The assessment is supposed to be submitted to Minister Benn’s office by Monday.
The stelling is used especially by the speedboats plying the Georgetown/Vreed-en-Hoop route.
