were re-lived on Tuesday evening last at the Banks DIH ground at Thirst Park during a specially arranged T20 Memorial match between the touring USA based New York Blasters and a Banks DIH select team under-lights.
A wet ground and soft pitch delayed the start of the game which only began when both Captains agreed to only bat at one end of the pitch with the game ending in a tie after both teams finished on 157.
At the presentation Nalini Sadloo, Sadloo’s wife, presented Elizabeth George, the wife of the late Ottis George with the winner’s trophy while Sadloo presented a monetary donation to the George family on behalf of the NY Blasters team which will play their final match on their tour on Friday when they take on host team Everest.
Former Under-19 left-arm spinner Guyana Shameer Sadloo, who led the NY Blasters and his fellow Guyana U-19 teammate Deryck McDonald both played with George for East Bank.
Former Guyana pacers Jermaine Neblett and Roderick Lovell and Rohan Sarjoo, who played a single First-Class match all represented East Bank when George played in the last 1980s and ‘90s, while Robert Narine, Surendra Heralall, Ramotar Bissoon were also George’s team mates for East Bank.
Guyana First-Class leg-spinner Amir Khan and First Class left-hander Chanderpaul Hemraj who came with the NY Blasters were also among the players on Tuesday night. George’s brother Seymour, who resides in Jamaica, was also present at the game.
